    As a tennis coach and keep having lunch here is unbelievable. Once a while or maybe every day. Keep thinking is there any branches in Kuala Lumpur? Well, it is worth a penny. Central Nasi Padang stationed near the former old bus station as long as I remember, and the food taste never faded away even over time! It’s a must try for everyone who love to eat Indonesian foods. This is the place.

    Malaysia is one of the countries who has variety of delicious food. I have been here in the last 15 years ago. The taste has never change since the first time here. This one and the one in front of the old Holiday Villa are probably the oldest nasi padang restaurants in AS (Alor Setar). Been coming here for lunch once a while for the past 15 years, the food and the menu hasn’t change much. People say their curry so good 🙂

    Still nasi padang here is the best I ever had in my life after I finished my offshore job at oil plant refinery. The taste is very consistent, unbelievable and all my family loving for a dine in here. Our favorite is definitely rendang ayam and sambal hijau. You should try other menu like ikan bakar, sambal tempe etc. but it’s up to you to choose because according to my family member, all cuisines in this restaurant is amazing.

    Been eating here ever since I moved to Alor Setar. Really good food, though a bit pricey for Malaysian standard. But it is still worth a visit. Must try – chicken or beef rendang, begedil and the pineapple pajeri. Try the curry too. This restaurant serves an awesome nasi padang and will always be the regular customer. Really like it! As a food hunter, this restaurant must be included in your hunting list! Don’t forget to bring your friends and family to here because it is really finger licking good!

    We are from KL. Recommended by a group of youngsters who were working in a heritage cafe in Alor Setar when my family and I were having my coffee there. We had fish (red snapper), squid, otak-otak and omelets with petai leaf. Portion is reasonably big. Quality is really good, very authentic, I will rate 9/10. Price is reasonable too, 5 pax, 4 dishes, plus some drinks, RM150. ~Date of visit: August 2019~

    A Thai restaurant branch opened in my hometown Alor Star serving great variety of Thai food and saved us the need to travel all the way to Jitra (35 mins drive from Alor Star) to have dinner in its main restaurant. We have tried its chicken, sweet sour salad, shrimps, fried eggs are vegetables are nicely done. Some friends said the main restaurant in Jitra is serving better dishes, but considering the journey it may take, we preferred to dine in at the branch here.     Was introduced here to this lovely place in this small town in Kedah. The dining hall is spacious and airy while the choices of food are good. I had deep fried shrimp, beef in dark soya sauce and honey egg ~ all were very nice. The fried shrimp were crunchy, while the beef is tender and tasty. The mixture of sauces was excellent.     This restaurant only open at 7pm for dinner. Annoying for me as I prefer having dinner earlier. However, we waited for it to open as we were tired.     Not to be missed if you are into local food hunt. Their Mee Goreng (Fried Noodle) & Mee Rebus (Soup Noodle) are to go for! Have it with you Teh Tarik (Hot Milk Tea) or Teh Ais (Iced Milk Tea) for breakfast or teatime. The restaurant is a humble set up, not fancy or heavy decoration interior, made you feel like eating in the 70’s or 80’s The price is reasonable, cheap i must say, but what to expect, everything to eat in Alor Setar are in the same range. Indulge!

    The History

    The Tsunami Monument was built to commemorate the tsunami tragedy which hit Kuala Muda Kedah on December 26th, 2004. This architecture was built using the 26 fishermen damaged boats from that tragedy, which reflects the date of December 26th, and it was built in such a way as during the tragedy of fishing boats overlap between each other.

    The Surroundings

    Next to this tsunami monument, there is a fenced area that houses were destroyed due to huge waves during the tsunami struck this village. Most of the houses in the coastal namely Kampung Sungai Muda and Kampung Tepi Sungai were destroyed. Now the empty houses have become the memorial for the visitors.

    Terletak lebih kurang 30 km dari Sungai Petani, Kedah. Kita sering mendengar nama Kg Pulau Sayak apabila bulan Ramadhan menjelang kerana disitu tertelak salah satu dari tempat untuk melihat anak Bulan setiap menjelang Ramadhan. Saya berkesempatan untuk berkunjung ke Pulau ini ketika menghadiri Mesyuarat Penyelarasan Program Kesedaran Penyakit Jantung di Central Square, Sungai Petani pada 18 Februari 2014. Tak pernah terfikir yang saya akan dapat menjejak kaki ke destinasi yang sering aku dengar namanya setiap menjelang bulan Ramadhan.

    Terima kasih ku ucapkan kepada sahabat lama ku En. Osman bin Desa yang menetap di Tikam Batu, Kedah. Beliaulah yang telah membawa saya ke Pulau Sayak untuk menikmati mee udang yang cukup terkenal di sini. En Osman pernah bertugas satu kapal denganku pada tahun 1981 iaitu kapal KD Ganas (TLDM) yang ketika itu berpengkalan di Woodlands, Singapura.

    Sebenarnya ini bukanlah kali pertama aku bertemu dengan Osman Desa setelah tamat perkhidmatan dengan TLDM pada tahu 1996. Kali pertama aku bertemu beliau ialah di Gelugor, Pulau Pinang pada 2012 dan kemudian di Kuala Nerang, Kedah pada tahun yang sama.Kesempatan menikmati mee udang yang cukup terkenal di Pulau Sayak tidak aku lepaskan. Dengan harga yang berpatutan dengan udang yang besar memang membuka selera sesiapa yang melihatnya.Tugu Peringatan Tsunami dibina sebagai memperingati tragedi Tsunami yang melanda Kuala Muda Kedah pada 26 Disember 2004 yang berlaku pada jam 7.30 pagi.

    Lebih kurang 100 keluarga yang tinggal berhampiran pantai di Kuala Kedah terpaksa meninggalkan rumah mereka dalam keadaan tergesa- gesa apabila beberapa nelayan melihat ombak besar di laut sedang menuju kearah pantai. Walaupun sudah 10 tahun berlalu, namun tragedi ini masih segar dalam ingatan beberapa penduduk di sekitar Kuala Muda terutama mereka yang kehilangan ahli keluarga dalam tragedi tersebut.

    ** Jumlah korban Tsunami di Malaysia mengikut laporan ialah 60 orang iaitu 52 di Pulau Pinang, 12 di Kedah, 3 di Perak dan 1 di Selangor.
