First World Plaza Genting Highlands Pahang Malaysia

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

First World Plaza is a shopping centre located below First World Hotel, the largest hotel in the world by number of rooms in Resorts World Genting, Pahang, Malaysia. The 500,000-square-foot (46,000 m2) mall underwent refurbishment in 2017 and was open in phases by 2018.

First World Plaza Genting Highlands Pahang Malaysia – Timeline

Attractions in the plaza includes bowling center, cineplex, “watersplash” pool (a warm indoor swimming pool made for mostly young children), Genting International Convention Center, Haunted Adventure and a Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum. A casino was also built on the location of the previous “The Pavilion” which was a concert venue for entertainment-related performances. Entertainment-related performances such as dances, acrobatic shows and magical shows are held in an area called Times Square.

However, all of these attractions had been closed under the First World Plaza refurbishment and the 20th Century Fox World construction projects. On 1 June 2017, the whole plaza was closed for refurbishment. On 1 August 2017, SnowWorld, Genting Bowl and Funtasy World Video Games Park within the plaza were also closed to make way for the development work of the new indoor theme park.

In 2018, the plaza reopened with new retail and dining outlets as well as indoor theme park attractions. Singapore-based retailer Tangs opened its fourth outlet in Malaysia, on the second floor of First World Plaza. Skytropolis Funland was open for public in December 2018.

Other attractions in the property includes SnowWorld, Genting Bowl, SeniKome Peng Heng, Vison City Video Games Park, BigTop Video Games Park and Asia’s first unique fully immersive virtual reality attraction called The VOID. It spans nearly 7000 square feet in the Skytropolis Funland.

Chin Swee Caves Temple, Genting Highlands, Malaysia: Overview

Chin Swee Caves Temple Genting Highlands : A peaceful retreat

Explore this grand religious site located on a sharp, rocky slope near the peak of Resorts World Genting. Embark on a cultural journey through a visual depiction of the afterlife, or simply enjoy the magnificent moutaineous landscape from the temple.

Key landmarks Chin Swee Caves Temple Genting Highlands include the iconic nine-storey lamp-lit pagoda, the open-air SkyTerrace, and a 15-metre tall statue of Buddha.

Getting to Chin Swee Caves Temple Genting Highlands : By car or Awana SkyWay (Chin Swee Station)

The Chin Swee Caves Temple (Chinese: 清水岩庙) is a Chinese temple in Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. It is situated in the most scenic site of Genting Highlands, on a 28-acre plot of rocky forested land donated by Genting Group founder the late Lim Goh Tong. Located 4,600 feet above sea level, the temple is about 5–10 minutes’ drive down from the peak of the mountain.

Within the Chin Swee Caves Temple Genting Highlands is seated a statue of Qingshui, a Buddhist monk who has long been referred to as a deity in Fujian Province, China for his supernatural abilities to summon rain and drive away evil spirits. The temple attracts many local and foreign devotees from Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam, China, Thailand and Indonesia.

Chin Swee Caves Temple, Genting Highlands, Malaysia: More Information

After completing the building of Genting Highlands Resort in 1975, which at that time was just a hotel with a small casino, Lim Goh Tong began construction of the temple. With the same dedication that he demonstrated in developing the Genting Highlands Resort, the late Lim began by gathering a group of friends many of whom were from his own Anxi clan and ancestry village of Penglai in Fujian Province of China, and established the Chin Swee Caves Temple Genting Highlands Temple Society.

Always leading by example, the late Lim began a donation drive by contributing a 28-acre land for the construction of the temple. In addition, his companies Resorts World Bhd and Genting Berhad made a cash donation of RM8.1 million for the building fund. The late Lim was elected as the Chairman of the society while his son, Lim Kok Thay was appointed as its Deputy Chairman.

Chin Swee Caves Temple Genting Highlands which was officially opened on 29 March 1994 by Ling Liong Sik (then the Malaysian Minister of Transport), overlooks lush green slopes of virgin forest with a view of the winding road ascending to Genting Highlands. Such is the tranquility of the place that just by standing there one can feel the peacefulness of the environment in the midst of the moving white clouds and gentle cool breeze.

Construction of the Chin Swee Caves Temple Genting Highlands was both arduous and dangerous due to the steep and rocky terrain, which made it impossible to utilise modern machinery for fundamental work such as piling. However, with the same tenacity and determination that he put in when building Genting Highlands Resort, the late Lim who acted as the planner, architect, designer, contractor and supervisor used manual labour for the digging of the foundation for the temple. He and his team manually dug holes of 80 to 100 ft in depth for this tricky hill slope development.

After all this tedious and time-consuming work the Chin Swee Caves Temple Genting Highlands was completed in 18 years. More importantly, despite adopting such manual approach in extremely difficult situations and risky environment, there were neither casualties nor work-related accidents reported during the whole period of construction.

Chin Swee Caves Temple Genting Highlands Attraction

Chin Swee Caves Temple at Resorts World Genting Highlands

Chin Swee Caves Temple at Resorts World Genting Highlands (https://wp.me/p2OQPP-9Tm) where we escape to the clouds via a glass gondola cable car from the Sky Avenue Mall at Resorts World Genting. Despite the far flung location of this Taoist Chinese Temple it still feels local as it will likely be the most prominent temple within tens of miles in this region. But the temple is just so atmospheric, enshrined in clouds, and it reminds us somewhat of winter in China, only the mists here are refreshing clouds, rather than smog. Or the Himalayas even, as the mists just breeze in and around the compound. In short, it no longer feels like we’re in Malaysia.

So it is very local, and taking the lift to the lower tiers of the temple we are met by a mix of smoky aromas. The smells of burning joss sticks, the smoke from of burning paper Chinese ancestral paper, and the tinge of the Chinese fire crackers which echo loudly through the temple compound.

Chin Swee Caves Temple is located in Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. A Temple place of worship in a scenic view that you can enjoy also the beauty of nature and peaceful environment. We visited last June 2017 with my family and friends. The place was very cold and a lot of things you can see ,in the area there’s a Chinese Restaurant with a delicious food they served. • Attraction: Senikome Peng Heng, Genting Highlands
    • Location: Pahang, Malaysia
    • Attraction Type: Attraction in Malaysia

Senikome Peng Heng, Genting Highlands, Malaysia: Main Activities

SeniKome Peng Heng : Where cultural exploration and inspiration comes together

ART & CULTURAL EXPO | SENIKOME PENG HENG @ RWG (RESORTS WORLD GENTING)

Where cultural exploration and inspiration comes together, the SeniKome Peng Heng, East Coast Arts & Cultural Centre is the place to go. Located at Level 3 of First World Plaza, just a stone’s throw away from Food Factory, the centre features a thematic showcase ofart and cultural essences from Peninsular Malaysia’s East Coast states; namely Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.

This East Coast Arts & Cultural Centre will highlight various traditional art forms, specifically visual and performing arts from the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia from July to September, inclusive Joget Gamelan, a classical dance that originated in the courts of Riau and Lingga in the 17th century. It became popular specifically in Pahang and Terengganu, and today 33 Gamelan dances are still in practice including Timan Burung, Ayak-ayak and Togok Rompin.

SeniKome Peng Heng : Silk Screen Painting

Silk screen painting, also known as serigraphy or silkscreening, also comes to the fore at the centre in the coming months. Believed to have taken root some 1,000 years ago in China, it is considered among the most versatile of all printing processes.

Traditional art enthusiasts may want to pay a visit to the centre the two months when different art forms are showcased every weekend. Starting the ball rolling is a demo on Batik Canting on the weekend of 29 and 30 July. Visitors will get to witness the beauty of batik-making, a technique of hand-dyeing fabrics by using wax as a dye repellent.

Following that, silk screen painting will be in the limelight at the centre on 26 and 27 August, while a watercolour painting demo will be held on 31 August and 1 September. Joget Gamelan is the main highlight on 2 and 3 September, a demo on sketching on 9 and 10 September, pottery on 16 and 17 September, and a weaving demo from 22 to 24 September.

The splendours of the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia—the states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan—lie at the heart of SeniKome. Thematic displays of art and culture from these states are the focus of the centre. SeniKome, which means “our art” in the Pahang local dialect, is indeed dedicated to promote the beauty of the east coast’s local craft, fashion, games, food and music.

The centre also aims to foster a creative environment where traditional artistry can flourish through immersive programmes such as the Wayang Kulit and Batik displays that are coming up. There is also an experiential area for various traditional games; this is where visitors can participate in Congkak and Batu Seremban.

Senikome Peng Heng, Genting Highlands, Malaysia: More Activities

Enjoy Food and Drinks at SeniKome Peng Heng

Visitors can also enjoy food and drinks at the centre; the East Coast Art and Souvenir Shop not only offers gift options like fine textiles and pewter ware items, visitors can also enjoy traditional dishes like the signature Nasi Kerabu, Mee Siam, Bubut Cha Cha or Keropok Lekor.

    Signature Nasi Kerabu

Rice is steamed in blue water extracted from pea flower (locally known as ‘bunga telang’), served with herbs and raw veggies (otherwise known as ‘ulam’), grated coconut, fish floss, salted duck egg and topped with a spoonful of rich ‘sambal tumis’ (turmeric and coconut sambal).

    Keropok Lekor

Local version of rolled fish cracker originated from Terengganu which commonly served with chili sauce. This really makes the perfect finger-bites!

Refreshing drinks are also served offering choices like pandan leaves, mint leaves, lemongrass, lime, honey and assam boi.

There’s also a Reading Corner at the centre, and visitors can join the guided tours that are held three times daily.

    SeniKome Peng Heng Ticket

Admission tickets to SeniKome are priced at MYR 8 for adults (MYR 7 for GRC members) and MYR 6 for children (MYR 5 for GRC members). There’s also the family package priced at MYR 25 that allows entrance to two adults and two children.

    Awana Skyway Genting Highlands Malaysia

The Awana Skyway, also referred to as the new Awana Skyway (circa. 2016), is a gondola lift system connecting Awana Transport Hub, Chin Swee Temple and SkyAvenue in Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia since December 2016. The Awana Transport Hub terminus consists of the new Awana Bus Terminal, the station building and a new 8-storey car park while the other terminus is located at SkyAvenue.

The Awana Skyway is one of the two aerial lines serving Genting Highlands, with the Genting Skyway serving as an alternate route. The gondola lift system was launched in 2016, and it replaces the former 2-car aerial tramway system running between 1977 and 2014. The gondola lift system can carry up to 3,600 passengers per hour with 10 passengers per gondola. At the maximum speed of 6 metres per second (21.6 km/h), the 2.8-kilometre journey up the mountain peak takes about 10 minutes, though it varies on the weather conditions.

    Aerial tramway-based (Old, 1977)

The old cable car uses a jig-back system: A large electric motor is located at the bottom of the tramway so that it effectively pulls one cabin down, using that cabin’s weight to help pull the other cabin up. A similar system of cables is used in a funicular railway.

The two passenger cabins are situated at opposite ends of the loops of cable. Thus, while one is coming up, the other is going down the mountain, and they pass each other midway on the cable span. It ceased its operations since 1 April 2014 to make way for the construction of an all-new mono cable gondola system similar to the one used on Genting Skyway by Leitner Ropeways.

    Gondola lift-based (New, 2016)

The new monocable gondola lift built by Leitner Ropeways uses 60 mm diameter solid cable wire ropes as opposed to Genting Skyway’s 54 mm diameter solid cable wire ropes. Likewise, they are among the strongest monocable gondola installations in the world. Similarly, it is equipped with high-tech electronic equipment and was built in accordance with stringent Swiss regulations. It also has a double safety circuit which is completely independent.

The foundation used for the pylons is of the “Hang-dug Caisson” type. Each pylon is founded on four Caissons measuring 1.2 metres in diameter, which are socketed down to bedrock. The average depth of the Caissons is about 40 m (135 feet) and each group of four Caissons piles can take a vertical load of 4,000 tonnes against the maximum vertical load of 150 tonnes from the cable car system. The Caissons method is about the safest and strongest foundation in existence, designed specifically for hilly terrain.

Each pylon is accessible via rescue tracks on the ground, whilst each gondola is equipped with radio communication equipment from the stations. The new gondola lift spans on 22 pylons as opposed to the former 5 towers.
