History of Masjid Panglima Kinta Mosque Ipoh Perak Malaysia
Masjid Panglima Kinta Mosque Ipoh Perak is built in 1898 in British, Moghul and neo- classical architectural design, the Panglima Kinta Mosque can be found overlooking the Kinta River and is one of the oldest mosques in Ipoh. It is known for its unique colouring of white and blue with a big dome at the top of the mosque.

Masjid Panglima Kinta is an old mosque located on the east bank of the Kinta river right after Hugh Low Bridge. It was built by Dato’ Panglima Kinta Muhammad Yusuff in memory of his wife who passed away that year. Work on the mosque began in 1898. It was one of the most beautiful and largest mosques in Ipoh when it was completed.
Masjid Panglima Kinta has two minarets and a central dome. Recent restoration work has regilded the dome.
A well-known resident of the mosque was the Egyptian Quran teacher Shaik Tholji who was instrumental in popularizing Quran recitals in Perak. He is buried at the Panglima Kinta’s family mausoleum located behind the mosque.

Sejarah Masjid Panglima Kinta
Masjid ini merupakan sebuah masjid yang terletak dalam Daerah Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. Masjid ini juga telah diwartakan sebagai Bangunan Warisan Negeri Perak. Masjid Panglima Kinta telah dibina pada 1898 oleh Datok Panglima Kinta Muhamad Yusuff bin Lassam. Dalam tahun itu juga isteri kepada Datok Panglima Kinta yang bernama Saaidah bt Chik telah meninggal di Ipoh dan masjid ini dibina untuk memperingati isteri beliau yang tercinta.
Binaan Panglima Kinta Mosque Ipoh Perak Malaysia
Masjid ini telah dibina dengan menelan kos sebanyak RM15,000. Selepas beberapa tahun, terdapat beberapa penambahan iaitu kawasan perkuburan untuk ahli keluarga Panglima Kinta dan sebuah madrasah untuk kelas-kelas pengajian di dalam kawasan masjid tersebut dan selepas beberapa tahun lagi, penambahan tempat berwudhuk, balai lintang dan rumah untuk pegawai masjid dibina.
Kompleks masjid ini dibina di atas tanah seluas 45,000 kaki persegi berhampiran dengan Sungai Kinta. Masjid ini telah diwartakan sebagai bangunan warisan pada tahun 2012 oleh Jabatan Warisan Negara.
Kemudahan Masjid
Panglima Kinta ialah Ketua Kawasan Kinta (“Lord of Kinta”) dan merupakan satu daripada 8 orang-orang besar. Panggilan penuh bagi Datok Panglima Kinta ialah Orang Kaya-Kaya Panglima Kinta Seri Amar Bangsa DiRaja. Kini tugas Panglima Kinta ialah sebagai mata dan telinga dan sebagai penasihat sultan mengenai agama Islam dan adat istiadat Melayu.
Keistimewaan Masjid Ipoh Perak Malaysia
Masjid ini menerapkan rekabentuk Kolonial British yang dicampur dengan Motif Moghul dan Neoclassical (rekabentuk dari Rom dan Greek). Masjid ini mempunyai sebuah kubah yang diapit oleh dua menara masjid. Masjid Panglima Kinta ini dibina dengan menggunakan batu-bata dan plaster. Masjid ini mempunyai porch yang kini telah dibina untuk penambahan ruang solat.
