About Perak War Memorial

Located in the Square in front of the Ipoh Railway Station, this cenotaph was erected in memory of “the men from the state of Perak who fell in the Great War 1914 – 1918 and to those who died in the 1939 – 1945 War”.

Every year in June, Malaysian war veterans are joined in by their counterparts from Australia and the United Kingdom for Remembrance Week, beginning with a wreath-laying ceremony at the cenotaph.

In this event organised by the Warriorsʼ Association Malaysia, also present would be representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, members of the armed forces and police as well as school children.
